home-cooked love

nothing beats a simple home-cooked fried rice made by Ju’s grandma (bless her soul) buried beneath a fried omelette which Ju thoughtfully whipped up for me while i was rushing to meet a deadline for an assignment
glenn ong & jamie yeo no more…

this favourite local celebrity couple of mine has filed for separation. they had such a fairytale wedding and i’ve sat next to the both of them in church before and they seem very loving then. but i haven’t seen them at church for quite alwhile already. plus glenn ong seems totally alright on radio every morning – somewhat scary he can hide his emotions so well.
’nuff said, read the news here.

the new girl at the shop got terminated last week, much to everyone’s delight and relief. she brought it upon herself with all her last minute no-show antics and bad attitude that she was displaying very early in her short stint with us, so it’s just too bad that she was sacked like 4 days before her ROM-day on valentines’ day itself. somehow, i don’t feel the least bit sympathetic for lazy bums. the world needs to be rid of lazy people, slackers, free-riders, and i’m sure it’ll be a much better place to live in…i’m allergic to them, but somehow i’m always surrounded by them! ARGH!
my new indian neighbours have moved in, much to my dismay, when i came back last week and almost tread upon this chalk-drawing of lotus-cum-swastika-looking-signs right outside their doorstep. i thought it was some sort of design that they were planning for their floor mat but the following day, they got a hindu monk to chant rituals and conduct some procession to ward off evil spirits – that’s their idea of housewarming. kinda’ annoyed me, but mum always say i must practice more religious/racial tolerance. now i have a neighbour on my left who walks right over to my front door to pray to the sky with 3 joss sticks and a neighbour directly opposite me who blocks my path to the lift with their drawings on the ground and a hindu monk. just great.
valentines’ day this year was a simple affair. no flowers for the very first time, and we shared an enjoyable and quiet steamboat dinner together at coca, in between rushing to meet my deadline to hand in an outline to my professor by 2359 hours. i have possibly reached the point where i’m secure enough with him to know that he loves me without the need for him to shower me with material wants like gifts, flowers, expensive dinners on a day like this, as well as the fact that my room cannot contain anything more already, so i’m starting to get very practical about the things i would like to receive. but of course, just like any other girl, who wouldn’t want to be pampered by their loved ones every now and then? :p
oh, and Ju will be starting his part-time mba course at the end of march. am super elated for him and myself, cos’ now that makes 2 of us back in school together, and we can both study together and share our woes and joys of school life once again…

Ju & i have never been crazy over kids but this amazingly cute boy crooning his lungs away in worship sure gave us a good laugh and made us appreciate the wonders of them all. enjoy!
