thou shalt stop complaining about…
30 January 2009
…never-ending homework comprising of 3 weeks of research on cases to do up a mock presentation of best arguments supporting my client’s case by next mon, a 1000-word essay on legal jurisprudence due every tuesday, an outlined report on proposed topics for presentation on the subject of criminal law, weekly case summaries to read up and analyse for contract law & criminal law due for compilation on sundays & mondays, textbook chapters & thick, fat ugly readings that look like enormous blobs of ink page-after-page which i’m already lagging behind in preparation for classes, answering weekly tutorial & seminar questions…
…irritating malay colleagues at the store who would only reply in malay when you speak to them in english…
…multiple meetings with friends which i have pushed and kept pushing due to demands of school & work on my time…
…new HP printer printing selected pages in a haphazard and unreliable manner (boycott HP & support fuji xerox & canon!)…
…ugly grades received so far which shapes like a crescent moon, with a star to accompany it (as if it’s any consolation at all)…
…lack of time to cuddle up with Ju and just chill…
…new indian neighbours NEXT-DOOR!!! (this must be retribution for complaining about the indians upstairs!!! *sobs*)…
…insufficient sleep…
…insufficient sleep…
…there.
p/s: oh…did i mention insufficient sleep? am so absent-minded these days…ARGH!

just came back from my reunion dinner and i’m popping in here to make a quick new year greeting…i think $$$ would be the main concern for lots of people during this year of gloom and doom, but fret not, there is no recession in my Father’s house. just place your trust in the Lord and His provision will be endless, ever-flowing with abundance…
anyway, i absolutely love the picture of me fooling around with the little lion snapped by my dad last year, so much so that it’s my profile pic on facebook:
have a great & prosperous chinese new year and happy ang-pao collecting! (must savour my precious right to receive ang paos while i still can!
)
the ugliest singaporean
15 January 2009
everyone take a good long look at this vehicle below and memorize his license plate no. by hard. no, not for 4-D’s sake, but don’t ever offend this driver or cut his lanes, or he’ll. not. let. you. off.

i’ve never met a more ungracious driver than this guy and his lady passenger, having known the horrible reputation of singaporean drivers. today, i was totally stupefied by the actions of this man.
i was turning out this morning from a filter lane onto ang mo kio ave 6 (heading to ave 1) to school when this black car was about to zoom straight ahead past the traffic lights at top speed and decided to honk me right from where he was before crossing the traffic lights at the previous junction…all the way until he was right behind me. i clearly remembered before i turned out from where i was, i checked and he was still some distance behind the traffic lights, that’s why i decided to proceed. next thing i knew, he let out a more than 5-second long honk until we came to a halt because the traffic lights at the next junction was red.
fine, i thought that was it. i got honked big-time since he wasn’t too happy at me for cutting out into his pathway and i didn’t think much about it, took my bottle of milk and proceeded to gulp it down. but he decided that he wasn’t satisfied and gesticulated rude hand signals which i caught from my rearview mirror and he even started taking pictures of my license plate no. with his handphone.

after that, he purposely cut to the next lane on my right and got his lady passenger to either take a picture of me or video me. i was furious! i immediately took out my handphone and snapped a picture of her back and their license plate no. too bad she was hiding and i couldn’t get a clear shot of both of them. i had to protect myself from any nasty surprises that this couple may spring on me. suspect that they’ll try to get me into trouble or publish my pictures on stomp.
i have never seen such a petty man before. was it necessary to go to such great lengths just to appease his road rage? every other day on the roads, someone will be bound to cut your lane or piss you off in some manner, but this is the singapore everyday way of life. we live in such a crowded society and will be bound to rub shoulders with people the wrong way every now and then. they left me wondering if they had already compiled a whole handphone full of pictures of drivers who have offended them to date…what sadistic thrill can they derive in doing so?
come on, no one’s perfect and i do sure hope that they never get honked by other drivers or flout any traffic rules, since they pride themselves to be justice on the roads by being mobile traffic cameras themselves.
p/s – anyway, i’ve just checked the road traffic act, s. 65B, on the use of mobile telephone while driving. even if they had caught me holding my handphone camera to snap them on video, they still need to prove that i was using it for the purposes of communicating with another person. and i’m sure they can’t. haha…it’s good to be in law school, helps you to know your rights against people like them.
p/p/s – oh, btw, surprise surprise…i’m on facebook at last! *laggard* (was forced to get an account because school discussions have gone on facebook – horror of horrors…) search and add me please? will try and post some pictures soon

helloes, happy 2009 to everyone…i had originally planned to post my ultra long entry of pictures from bali to start off the new year on my blog, but i’ve spent the first 2 weeks of this year making money (the store’s short-handed actually) and have procrastinated on finishing up with the uploading of the pictures (doesn’t help that wordpress can’t quite cope with my myriad of pictures – hangs every now and then…raahh…)
rest assured, i’ll have them up to entertain everyone soon and no, i have not deserted my blog or gone on some hiatus…i just gotta’ get this research report off my back first. yes, school has resumed and my holidays just flew me by with a twinkling of the eye, but it’s better this way too…the longer the relaxation period, the more ‘nua’ i get and it’ll be harder to recover and gear up for the semester.
had my first criminal law lecture today and i am so looking forward to more of it – i seem to have taken a liking to this area of the law…wonder if i have the makings of a future DPP? hehe…will see whether i feel the same way at the end of this module, but one thing’s for sure, i’ll probably not specialise into family law because i’ll get over-emo and drag a whole horde of my client’s emotional baggage home with me everyday…*bleah*
legal philosophy class was really boring and i practically zoned out throughout. not sure how i’ll survive such draggy 3 hour weekly sessions with a rookie professor, who seems to be very new and terribly lost on how to deal with us…and i just found out from genie today that one of my classmates is president S R nathan’s granddaughter. tried taking a long hard look at her in class today, but couldn’t see any resemblance at all…hmm…whatever.
entries over the next few months will be shorter than usual cos’ i desperately need to pull up my grades, but keep checking this space for more…nitez for now!
