the secret little agency

30 December 2008

this is my ex-bf’s company’s website. i almost fainted when i went to it for the first time, but i must say it’s kinda cool without any fluff like the other big ad agencies’ webpages. just straight-in-your-face, plain-to-the-point, nail-on-the-head marketing. in a strange way, it works in today’s context of overwhelming clutter that every consumer has to face. go check it out! :)

g’bye sarah

29 December 2008

tonight i bade farewell to a fellow colleague who brought me much laughter in the last few months. sarah will be transferred to another branch come january and the shop will be missing much of her jokes which adds life to an otherwise monotonous shift.

anyway, here’s a link that sarah left me with, just wanna’ share it with all who like to buy samples/testers of cosmetics and skincare products and can’t get it at the shops at lucky plaza or ang mo kio, where the salesgirls working for various brands quietly sell their samples to these shops on their off days to make that bit of extra cash. too bad it isn’t selling the latest fragrance which i am extremely tempted to get…

jeanne by lanvin
this is jeanne by lanvin (pronounced as ‘jean’)…i tried the perfume on recently at robinson’s – it leaves a little powdery afterscent (i prefer fruitier perfumes), but i think it’s still nice to wear a scent named after you (well, not exactly after me, but i guess thinking that way makes me happy, so whatever la…:p)

doggy good times

26 December 2008

when a dog loves a cat

was watching this tvb canto drama with Ju not too long ago and was so amazed how the dog and cat in the show could be so loving and peaceful. i’ve always thought if you had both animals contained under the same roof, be prepared for a ruckus and to clean up all the broken fragments of stuff that they break in their wild animal chase around the house…and a hell lot of screaming and yelling too.

anyway, Ju has a liking for dogs while i have a liking for cats, gingercats especially (hence the nickname ginger O’hara that i’ve stuck with on my msn for years). i’ve even planned what name i’ll give my future pet cat when i get an abode of my own (mum hates to clean up after animals)…i’ll call my cat – mr. mao! but i’m totally fine with dogs too, having lived with scooby (cousin’s dog) and lucky (my nanny’s dog) in the past – they’re such faithful creatures, always trying to score a pat or a scratch behind the ears from you and they can cheer you up instantly in times that you feel down. just that Ju and i are somewhat apprehensive about cleaning up the defecation after a long day’s work and we are not sure if we can afford such a commitment - the costs of their maintenance, daily walks, monthly visits to the vet, etc.). having a pet can be such an expensive affair, but at the same time, it can be rewarding. and more importantly, we both prefer having pets to having kids…

scooby stoning

scooby, in particular, left such nice memories with me of having to live with a dog. there was this one time when clyde came to visit me in perth, she forgetfully left my main door wide open without closing it behind her (i was waiting for her in the car to go out so i didn’t check either)…and the house did not get burglared when we returned many hours later. all thanks to scooby who had a whale of a time sitting at the gate barking at everything that moved within a few metres of the gate. his bark was good enough to scare any thief the living daylights out of anyone, let alone his fierce rotweiler appearance. burglaries were extremely common in perth and it was a wonder and a blessing that nothing was taken away that afternoon (or i’d have to compensate my cuzzie, robs and my landlord for any of their losses). double-eeks!

scooby

but living with a dog who doesn’t take enough walks and runs out whenever he gets a chance to has also made my heart close to stopping a couple of times. there was this once where scooby managed to barge out of the gate and dashed across sommerville boulevard, a busy stretch of road behind our house with lots of oncoming traffic going to and fro during the evening peak period. and i watched how he forced a toyota celica to jam its brakes to a screeching halt within seconds and how he was almost knocked over and could have died in that instant. but by god’s grace, he survived that ordeal and lost a couple of fingernails, thankfully unharmed…

scooby lying in the shower on a hot summer's day

sigh…i miss this boy so much…scooby played an important part of my life in perth, especially when i first arrived and had problems settling in because i felt extremely lonely and homesick. the first house on spigl way that i lived in was too big, cold and foreign to me and i would hide in my room the entire day like a hermit crab and not dare to come out. scooby was the only one who was constantly there hanging around me and that companionship was priceless…

i guess after reminiscing the times i had, i might still want to go ahead and get a dog and cat someday after all…will have to see how Ju sits with the idea then…:p

anyways, i’ll be back with more pics of great christmas pressies i’ve received and photos of my recent bali trip. in the meantime, am off to be a one-night resident of the grand hyatt once again…

it’s christmas!
